The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is dedicated to research and education to advance understanding of the ocean and its interaction with the Earth system, and to communicating this understanding for the benefit of society. WHOI offers a variety of facilities and services for use by WHOI researchers and external groups and organizations. The Aqua Kids have visited Woods Hole twice this season!
   

Founded in 1969, the New England Aquarium is a global leader in ocean exploration and marine conservation. The Aquarium is one of the premier visitor attractions in Boston, with over 1.3 million visitors a year, and a major public education resource.
   

THE KAREN BEASLEY SEA TURTLE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION CENTER in Topsail Island, North Carolina, is dedicated to the conservation and protection of all species of marine turtles, both in the water and on the beach. Their mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick and injured sea turtles; to inform and educate the public regarding the plight of all sea turtles and the threat of their extinction; and to provide an experiential learning site for students of biology, wildlife conservation, and/or veterinary medicine from around the world.

Jean Beasley, Executive Director (known affectionately as “Miss Jean” to the Aqua Kids) was named Animal Planet’s 2007 Hero of the Year!

   

The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia is the world’s largest aquarium and one of Atlanta’s feature attractions! With eight million gallons of fresh and marine water and more aquatic life than found in any other aquarium, you are sure to see things you have never seen before!
   
The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is a “home away from home” for the Aqua Kids. The North Carolina Aquariums operate three facilities located on Roanoke Island, at Pine Knoll Shores, and at Fort Fisher. The Aquariums were established in 1976 to promote an awareness, understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the diverse natural and cultural resources associated with North Carolina's ocean, estuaries, rivers, streams, and other aquatic environments.
   

The National Aquarium in Washington, D.C. - An essential part of any trip to the nation’s capital, the Aquarium features more than 80 exhibits with over 200 species of salt and freshwater marine life including endangered species.

Save the Bay!

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Our motto, Save the Bay, defines the organization's mission and commitment to reducing pollution, improving fisheries, and protecting and restoring natural resources such as wetlands, forests, and underwater grasses.

 

The Global Amphibian Assessment (GAA) is the first-ever comprehensive assessment of the conservation status of the world's 5,743 known species of frogs, toads, salamanders, and caecilians. This website presents results of the assessments, including IUCN Red List threat category, range map, ecology information, and other data for every amphibian species.

Search the GAA database for species by name, taxonomy, country, region, habitat type, threat type, or IUCN Red List status.

 

The Mission of the DAPTF is to determine the nature, extent and causes of declines of amphibians throughout the world, and to promote means by which declines can be halted or reversed.
